Do you get restless on a Sunday anxious about the upcoming Monday? If you do, you are in for a treat! Let’s turn those Sundays into Fun Days!
I want you to brew a cup of tea or make some green juice and prepare yourself for some inspiration and entertainment to get you out of that funk. Keep a pen, a notebook, and your calendar by your side because you will want to bottle those inspirations so you can take them “to-go” for the week ahead. Writing it down, putting it in the calendar, and making a step by step plan makes it more likely to accomplish your goals.
1. Swap your clothes online. I recently joined a online swap community for clothes. While I haven't swapped any items yet, I think it's an excellent idea, not only do you get to save some coin when updating your wardrobe, you also get to recycle and reduce the amount of stuff going to landfill.
"Swappin reduces the damaging effects of fast fashion and out-of-control consumerism, one garment at a time"
They also have a great article for those clothes that are just past swapping or donating here is what you can do. Now that we have an H& M in Melbourne we can also use their services to recycle our old duds.
2. Hide your phone. University of Essex conducted a study that showed having a cell phone visible on the table while having a meaningful conversation significantly affected the quality of connection of the two people talking. Feelings of closeness, trust, empathy, and relationship quality were significantly lower when there was a cellphone on the table compared to a notebook. Picking up your phone can take you of of the moment, and thanks to this study, now we know even having your phone on the table can be distracting.
I have been noticing myself get distracted by my phone more and more , and I don't like it. To amend this I have been hiding my phone by putting it on silent and putting it in my bag so it's out of sight. When I can't see my phone I don't even think about it.
This Sunday if you have planned to spend time with friends and family, hide your phones if you want to have meaningful conversations. If we are more present not only do we get nourish and enjoy our relationships, we can also unwind and relax instead of being wired to our devices all the time.
3. Make chia seed jam. I used to watch my grandma make jam. It was a long process taking about half a day. Plus it had a lot of sugar, so it wasn't very healthy either. Now thanks, to chia seeds making a jam is so easy you don't even need a stove. What you need are some berries, chia seeds, and honey (optional). It takes only few minutes blend the ingredients. Then just put it in the fridge for a few hours to let the chia seeds swell up and do their thing instead of simmerring the jam and watching it on the hot stove for hours. If you make some now and it'd be ready for afternoon tea, or prepare it tonight and have it ready for breakfast come monday morning.
By now your tea is finished and your notebook has plenty of scribbles. I hope you are calmer, more inspired, and looking forward to the new week with a fresh perspective. So, how will you be spending your Sunday? Let me know in the comments
With love & simplicity,
