Apple & Cinnamon Green Smoothie

Green smoothies are fast, easy & delicious way to eat more vegetables. If you have a food processor you can make one easily, it takes slightly longer but does the job. Before I moved out and got a high powered blender, I used an old food processor for a few months to see if I would use it enough to make it worth it to buy a Vitamix. It was so good I had a green smoothie every morning for those few months, which meant I could buy my expensive blender knowing that I would definitely use it. 

This morning I made a new recipe that turned out great. Apple and cinnamon are such good combinations, here is the recipe. 

Apple & Cinnamon Green Smoothie

Ingredients:
1 Apple

1/4 Lemon

2 Stalks of Swiss Chard

1/3 of Cos Lettuce

few Sprigs of Parsley

1 glass of water

1 tbsp of Peanut Butter

1 tbsp of Chia Seeds

1 tbsp of Cinnamon

2-3 cubes of ice ( with a fast blender because of the speed the smoothie gets a bit warm, so the ice helps cool it down)

Directions:

Put the water in the blender. Then add in all the softer ingredients and then add the denser stuff like the apples. This way the blades get to spin easier pulling down the ingredients, instead of just spinning on the bottom. Put the peanut butter, cinnamon, chia seeds and ice on top and blend for 30 seconds to 2 minutes.  It's done when it's smooth and creamy. I like topping it with something that has different texture like crunchy cacao nibs or slices of soft ripe plums.
